Wildlife Around SBO

I have been in Boulder now for just over a week.  I walk back and forth around campus, but most of my time is spent going to and from the dorms, my apartment and the Sommers-Bausch Observatory (SBO).

There is a lot of wildlife on this campus, and none of it seems to be afraid of humans at all, unfortunately.  For example, we have a deer that lives just outside of the observatory.  Most days, we see this deer.  One day, she was so close to the door that I didn’t want to go outside and scare her.  Instead, I went outside, and she just looked at me, annoyed that I had disturbed her nap in the grass.

There are some giant raccoons that raid the trash on a regular basis.  Last night, one jumped out of a trash can with a hot dog in its mouth, and it looked like it was smoking a cigar.

The strangest thing I have spotted was a fox.  I wasn’t able to get a picture of it, but there is no other animal that moves like that, and is that shape.

…and before you ask, I still don’t know what the fox says.

Thank you for reading my post.
